One of the best parts of getting married? (other than getting to spend the rest of your life with the person you love most… duh) is all the celebrations surrounding it! It’s such an incredible time filled with happy memories and so much love… I’m not kidding, I don’t think I’ve ever felt more lovey dovey in my life. And arguably the most highly anticipated of these celebrations is the bachelorette party – that rite of passage that all brides deserve, one last ‘hurrah’ with her girlfriends before she’s taken off the market… FOREVER.
I was lucky enough to have TWO bachelorette parties, one of which was captured on film by the amazing @filthymouthcreative, and on video by the very talented Spill Sheet Entertainment. That was a definite perk of being the brand’s first bridal muse and getting to work with a team that’s so creative (and down for having fun) – I got to pave my own #roadtozien, and it included a real life road trip with two of my best friends who just so happen to be my colleagues (referring to fellow founding HAHTIES Rebecca Bunker and Kelsey Farrer, pictured in all the photos). HAH is a true sisterhood, and I am forever grateful and in awe of what we have going here; it’s really rare, and I wanted to capture that on film because… WHAT other brand would do such a thing? It ended up being a really special team building activity that all of us will remember forever. I think this is what sets HAH apart from other brands – we have the creative freedom to DO things like this. But anyways, that’s enough lovey-dovey for now, let’s get back to the PARTY…
But first I’d like to remind that that we’re looking for our next bridal muse.
These days there’s no rules on how to plan your bachelorette, all I knew was that I DID NOT want to wear a sash and drink out of a penis straw. To me, the bachelorette was about having an excuse to spend time with the girls, let loose and have fun. I honestly didn’t care about going to a bar and making small talk with random strangers – for me it was all about relishing those last single-girl moments with my BFFs and making memories that would last a lifetime. Mission accomplished…
True story – My first bachelorette party took place in Whistler, BC and consisted of me and my 3 best girlfriends who also happened to be my bridesmaids. We had lofty goals for the weekend, like going to the spa and hitting the slopes, but in reality we barely left the cabin – it was too fun! That, to me, was a perfect weekend and all I ever could have asked of my bachelorette party.
And for my bHAHchelorette… I wanted a similar vibe, and had the HAHmazing idea to plan a girl’s trip for the occasion – I just thought it would so sad to squeeze all the fun into a single night, it would go by way too fast! We ended up on a crazy California roadtrip – that took us through Barstow, Amboy, the salt flats, Roy’s abandoned motel, and finally to Palm Springs, where the weekend ended at COACHELLA! To say it was one of the craziest weeks of my life would probably be accurate. But hey, you only get one (or two…) bachelorette parties in your life, might as well make them count!
The term ‘bride-zilla’ didn’t coin itself… meaning your girlfriends are going to put up with a lot of $hit over the course of your engagement. The least you can do is get them some awesome swag to thank them for their unwavering love and support. A little bit of HAH goes a long way… Here are my picks for bridesmaid gifts that will make them happy they said YES:
A #HAHT BODYSUIT that they can wear under their getting ready robe, and long after the wedding
BRIDESMAID DRESSES they’ll actually wear again (and again) #30wears
